James was born April 19, 1927, and passed away 3 months before his 90th birthday. He married Mary Louise Bias in 1946 and they were together 60 years.
Mary passed away April 19, 2006. Throughout their life together they were never apart. Their love was an inspiration to their family, and it is a comfort to the family to know they are together again.

Survivors include four children Brenda Todd and husband Charles, Jerry Gallup and wife Joann, Jim Gallup and wife Elaine, and Janice Gallup, all of Columbia, MO. He also leaves 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, three siblings Kay Hutchins and husband Glen, Phyllis Black, and Elmer Gallup and wife Judy
He was a lifelong Boone County resident and worked many years in the construction industry.
His close friends and family knew him as “T”, Jim Cat, JT or Jim.
James enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.
James was a hard worker all of his life; if he wasn’t on the job, he was working on a project at home. He built the family home 54 years ago and continued to make improvements through the years.
James and his wife Mary raised their family in this home, and with the support of his family, in particular his daughter Janice, he was able to live there the rest of his life. His family was the most important thing to him. In addition to their 4 children, James and Mary welcomed into their family two nieces and two nephews whom they raised as their own.
The family wishes to thank Hospice Compassus for the care and support they provided.
Memorial contributions may be made in James’ honor to the charity of your choice.
