
With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we bid farewell to Janet (Jan) Arlis McDonnell, who passed away in her home on August 2, 2023, at the age of 85 in Eldon, Missouri. She leaves a legacy of love, wisdom, and inspiration that will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. She is survived by three of her four children, Mark McDonnell of Topeka, Kansas, Chris McDonnell of Columbia, Missouri, and Julie McDonnell of Columbia, Missouri, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter Lynn McDonnell.
Born on September 13, 1937, in Kansas City, Kansas, Jan led an inspirational life filled with unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Her warm smile and compassionate nature touched the lives of many, creating lasting connections that span generations.
Throughout her life, Jan was the epitome of strength and resilience. She faced challenges with grace and determination, demonstrating an unyielding spirit that continues to inspire all who knew her. Her wisdom and guidance were sought after by family members and friends alike, and her presence brought a sense of comfort and reassurance to those around her.
Jan had a passion and intuition for business and hospitality in the food service industry. She shared her enthusiasm for food and hospitality with everyone around her. Whether it was cooking excellent dishes, hosting family gatherings, or spending time with her pets, her dedication was infectious.
Above all, Jan held her family closest to her heart. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her unwavering support, guidance, and love have left an indelible mark on her family, who will forever treasure the memories created together.
A Graveside Celebration of Jan's life will be held at 3 pm on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering the incredible woman she was and to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jan's memory to Central Missouri Humane Society, which was close to her heart.
