

Mary JoAnn Heichelbech, aged 83, passed away on January 24, 2024, at The Villa at Blue Ridge, surrounded by her family. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on March 2, 1940, and was the youngest of seven children born to Anthony and Mabel Brotzge. In 1962 JoAnn was united in marriage to Edward J. Heichelbech and he preceded her in death in 2000.
JoAnn graduated from Indiana Central University with a degree in education and later pursued a degree in accounting from Columbia College. She served as the Director of Financial Services at the Columbia Chamber of Commerce for 16 years before retiring in 2002. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. JoAnn enjoyed traveling, singing, and spending time with her family.
JoAnn is survived by her son, Tim (Sheila) Heichelbech of Peculiar, MO; her daughter, Teri (Greg) Kidwell of Columbia; her five grandchildren, Christy Kidwell of Columbia, Tyler (Kathleen) Stevens of Columbia, Matthew (Charlotte) Heichelbech of Frederick, MD, Sara Heichelbech of Peculiar, MO, and Adam (Nicole) Kidwell of Milwaukee, WI. She is also survived by three great-granddaughters.
On February 5, 2024, a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Columbia to honor JoAnn. Prior to the service, JoAnn's family will welcome friends and family for visitation starting at 10 A.M. Following the Mass, a luncheon will be held, and at 1:30 P.M., a committal service will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery/Columbia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri.
