

Julie was born on June 14, 1968, in Hannibal, Missouri, to Kermit and Jody Reynolds. She grew up on her family’s cattle farm in Stoutsville, Missouri, alongside her siblings—Crystal Reynolds, Luke Reynolds, Sarah Reynolds, and Allie Reynolds. Julie graduated from Monroe City High School in 1986.
In 1990, she moved to Columbia, where she began working at The 63 Diner. While there, she started her family with her husband, Jay Cook, and together they welcomed three children: Annie Carmer (Cook), James Barnard Cook III (Trey), and Sadie Cook.
In 2005, Julie met her lifelong partner, James C. Montgomery, who remained faithfully by her side through all of life’s joys and challenges.
Whether she was waiting tables, selling real estate, or spending time with family and friends, Julie always prioritized love and laughter. Her passion and kindness touched everyone she met. A woman of strong Christian faith, Julie’s strength, generosity, and compassion were evident in all that she did.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepbrother, Larry Painter Jr.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 13th, 2025 at 1pm- 5200 Stone Mountain Parkway, Columbia, MO 65201, all welcome.
