It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Linda Warren Wing, who departed this life after a brief battle with cancer. Linda is now reunited with the love of her life, Robert David Wing, who preceded her in death. Mom passed on Aug 5, 2025, at the age of 75. Linda’s legacy shines brightly in the lives she shaped, the family she nurtured, and the love for God she shared so generously.
Born in Gulfport, MS on Aug 14, 1949, to Willie and Betty Jo Warren, Linda dedicated her life to her family, raising 4 children as a homemaker. For 50 years, Linda was the unwavering partner to her beloved husband. Their love story began in Jacksonville, FL where they had planned to be on dates with other people at a church singles activity. They were married in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 11, 1970. Their journey together was one of mutual support, shared dreams, and endless teasing and laughter. While Robert pursued his education, earning multiple degrees, Linda stood by his side, diligently typing every paper and providing the support that made his accomplishments possible. In this sense, she earned those degrees alongside him, her contributions as vital as any diploma. Mom and Dad’s favorite pastime was sailing the seas and visiting destinations around the world on over 22 cruises. If only we had stock in Norwegian Cruise Lines!
Linda’s greatest legacy, however, is etched in the lives of her four children. She poured her heart and soul into raising them, instilling values, teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, nurturing ambitions, and making countless sacrifices to ensure their success. Every achievement of her children is a direct reflection of her tireless efforts and unwavering belief in their potential.
Linda’s home was a haven of warmth and unconditional love, her presence a comforting constant. Her kitchen was filled with the aroma of chocolate chip cookies, contagious laughter, and unparalleled dance moves to music from the Bee Gees. Music was in Mom’s soul. Throughout high school she mastered the saxophone, continuing to play in community bands throughout her life. Mom enjoyed lending her voice in numerous choirs and taught herself to play the piano, organ, ukulele and was just beginning to learn bass guitar. Mom was incredibly patriotic and felt a civic duty to serve in her community. She became the first female volunteer police office in Collierville, TN. In later years, Mom enjoyed substitute teaching high school. Mom was small in stature, but mighty in personality. She was a Southern belle known for her classy and accessorized style yet would never hesitate to “tell it like it is”. Above all, Mom was a choice daughter of God, a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. Every day, she chose to follow Him.
Linda is survived by her best friend and loving brother, Roger Warren. She will be dearly missed by her four children, their spouses and nine grandchildren: April Lynette Wing Richardson (husband Scott and children Jolei and Alayna Richardson), Nicole Aline Wing Sweeney (husband David and children Hayden and Collin Sweeney), Spencer Warren Wing (wife Anna and children Sophie and Stella Wing), and Kirk David Wing (wife Virginia and children Bruce, Henry, and Susan Wing). Linda was, in every sense, the heart of her family, and her influence will continue to resonate deeply through generations.
