Mark was born on February 23, 1957, in Columbia, Missouri, to Ortha and Patsy Ewings. In 1987, he met the love of his life, Brenda, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.
Mark was a man of many talents—a skilled cook, painter, upholsterer, and so much more. No matter the job, he approached it with dedication and joy, always finding a way to make work feel like play. He had a gift for storytelling and a sense of humor that could light up any room. Whether he was sharing a joke, casting a fishing line, or heading out on a hunting trip, Mark embraced life fully.
He was always present—truly listening, truly caring. If you needed him, he was there without hesitation. Mark loved his family deeply and fiercely, but nothing brought him more joy than being “Papa.” Time spent with his grandchildren—whether in person or on the phone—was the highlight of his days.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Larry Ewings and James Ewings; his nephew, Clinton Ewings; and his niece, Leah Rainwater.
He is lovingly remembered by his partner; his daughter, Veronica (Jay) Bullock of Harrisburg, Missouri; his siblings, Gary “Dean” Ewings of Higbee, Missouri, Patricia (Lionel) Fowler of Boonville, Missouri, Joyce Ewings of New Franklin, Missouri, Kenneth Ewings of Boonville, Missouri, John (Alycia) Ewings of New Franklin, Missouri, and Betty (Gary) Ewings of Boonville, Missouri; his cherished granddaughters, Adriana (Drake) Bullock, Ericka (Scott) Hill, Alexandrea Bullock, and Hayden Bullock; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Everleigh, Brynlee, Arabella, and Kacyn.
He also leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including 16 nieces and nephews, 34 great-nieces and nephews, and one great-great-nephew.
Mark’s life was one of love, laughter, and loyalty. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mark’s honor to the Central & Northeast Missouri Food Bank.
