Marshall G Murray

Services will be Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Memorial Funeral Home with Visitation 10 – 11 AM and a Service at 11 AM. Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marshall was born at home, in McBaine, on September 10, 1937, the son of Joseph Griffin Murray and Stella Mae (Vaughn) Murray. He attended the one room Star School near McBaine. On October 25, 1955 he was united in marriage to Sylvia Jean Crane who preceded him in passing. Marshall proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Marshall had a life-long love of baseball from his days as a youth playing for the Columbia Stags to his devotion to the St. Louis Cardinals. Later in life he turned his attention to golf, playing in the “Three Dollar Club” and sinking one “Hole in One.” He enjoyed gardening in order to share with family and friends. There is even a secret corn recipe that is attributed to Marshall. He found a passion for training dogs. He won “Dog of the Year” as reported in Field and Stream Magazine. He was a proud member of Local 317/562 Plumbers and Pipefitters.

Marshall is survived by his children: David (Kathy) Murray; Dana (Andrew) Hefner; five grandchildren: Brandon Murray; Jennifer (Ken) Boyce; Aaron Murray; Lacey (Mitch) Perez; Sean Hefner; eleven great grandchildren; a dear friend and companion: Doreen Nichols and a host of nieces and nephews.

Marshall was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son: Danny Owen Murray; his brothers and sisters: David; Stanley; Idella; Evelyn; Thurman; Emma; Otsie; and Roger.
