Mattie D Barbee

Mattie was a hardworking and devoted woman who spent many years serving others as a Rehab Aide before her retirement. Her life was defined by compassion, perseverance, and a deep love for her family. Those who knew Mattie knew her as a caring presence—steady, strong, and always willing to give of herself.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and treasured moments of laughter, conversation, and togetherness. Above all else, Mattie loved her family and cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will live on through generations.

She is survived by her children, Angela Fields, Michelle Barbee, Dewayne Barbee, and Edward “Tony” Fields; six grandchildren, Jenna, Malia, Josh, Heather, Steel, and Stone; and her beloved eight great-grandchildren, Xiamara Von, and Talya, plus five others. She is also survived by four siblings, Deborah Simmons (Eugene) of Florida, Denise Bradford (Thomas) of Iowa, John Williams of Iowa, and Keith Williams (Pam) of Iowa, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.

Mattie was preceded in death by her mother, Pearlie Williams; her stepfather, Ed Williams; a granddaughter, Denisha, three brothers; her maternal grandparents, John Henry Fields and Pearly M. Fields, and a son- in- law, Roy Midgyett.

Mattie’s legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 20, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Services honoring and celebrating Mattie’s life will follow at 2:00 p.m. Committal prayers and burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.
