

Norma Fay Showers, 90, of Overland Park, formerly of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in Overland Park, KS surrounded by her loved ones. Visitation will be Thursday, March 19th from 10-11:30am at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO. Graveside service will begin at 11:30am In Memorial Park Cemetery.
Norma was born, October 24, 1935, in Columbia to Roy and Josie Tharpe Wade. She was a 1954 graduate of Hickman High School. Soon after high school, on June 12, 1954, she married Robert Showers in Columbia, and they would spend the next 72, years together. She was a busy mother, working and raising three children. She worked as a doctors' assistant for Dr. Elrie Rodgers for thirty years until his death. She later worked for the American Red Cross and then Furniture World before she retired. She had a deep love for cooking and playing golf around Columbia in the Women’s league, going out on the town and having lunch and dinner with her friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Showers; daughters, Susan (Perry) Plummer and Carol (Bob) White both of Olathe, KS; grandchildren, Paul Showers, and Megan and Melissa White; great-grandchildren, Ella, Caden, and Ava Showers; many nieces and nephews and a loving extended family. She was preceded in death by a son, Danny Showers, her five siblings; Junior Wade, RP Wade, Lorene Willis, Ruth Morgan, Phyllis Murray and her parents.
