Phillip David Sheets

Services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, Missouri on Tuesday, September 24. Visitation will take place at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery and full military honors will be rendered.

A Columbia native, David was born on December 9, 1948 to Joseph and Gertrude (Henry) Sheets. He proudly served in the United States Army in the Vietnam era was honorably discharged in 1971. He married the love of his life, Mary Ilene Frehse, on September 1, 1978.

David was a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He also enjoyed watching the Missouri Tigers sports teams, especially since he was a longtime employee of the University of Missouri. He loved sharing his passion for sports with his sons and grandchildren.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; sons Joseph (Loretta) Sheets, John Sheets, William Sheets, and Robert Sheets; sisters Brenda (Bill) McAllister and Debbie (Curt) Russell; as well as grandchildren Dana Sheets, Dylan Sheets, Bradly VanVleck and Aubree Johnson-Sheets. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Faye Lewis and Connie Barnd, and brothers Stanley Sheets and William “Bill” Sheets.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sheets family in care of Memorial Funeral Home.
