Bob grew up in the Kansas City area, where he learned early the values of hard work, loyalty, and doing right by others—values he carried with him throughout his life. He enlisted in the United States Navy on March 11, 1965, he patriotically served his country until receiving an honorable discharge in 1969
On April 5, 1969, he married the love of his life, Mary Yates, in Kansas City, MO. Their marriage was a true partnership built on devotion, respect, and deep affection. Together, they welcomed a daughter, Robin, who became one of Bob’s greatest joys.
Bob dedicated many years of his life to the Consolidated Water District #1, beginning his career there in 1989 and retiring as supervisor in 2024. He took tremendous pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic, steady presence, and unwavering commitment to doing the job right.
Family, however, was the center of Bob’s world. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary, of Columbia, MO; his daughter, Robin Riddles (Eric), also of Columbia; and his grandchildren, Thomas Riddles (Kera), Travis Riddles (Savannah), and Tanner Riddles (fiancé Logan Mahabir). His great-grandchildren—Kaden, Burt, Ivey, Lilly, Zachary, and Aspen—brought him immeasurable joy, and he cherished every moment he spent with them.
Bob is also survived by his siblings, Ron Drydale (Jenette), Johnny Drydale, Connie Jones (Ashe), Bonnie Drydale, Linda Church, and Rhonda Drydale, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Leo Richmond and Ruth (Merril) Drydale, two brothers, and one sister.
Bob was a devoted husband who never missed a chance to remind others that Mary was the love of his life. His heart was fullest when he was surrounded by his grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Papa.” They were his pride, his joy, and the light in his days, and the love he poured into them will be felt for generations. Bob was the true definition of a family man—his world, his purpose, and his happiness were found in the people he loved most.
