An Orlando, Florida native, Sara was born on February 7, 1955, the daughter of Raymer Francis Maguire, Jr. and Sara “Skippy” Corry Maguire. She was the granddaughter of Raymer F. Maguire, Sr. and Ruth McCullough Maguire, and of Henry Edmund Corry and Alice Steed Corry, and came from families deeply rooted in the history and civic life of Central Florida.
Raised in Orlando, Sara moved to Columbia, Missouri to attend Stephens College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. It was there that she met her husband, Robert “Bob” Meyer LeMone. They were married in 1978 and shared nearly 30 years of marriage until his passing in 2008. Together they built a life deeply rooted in community and service, guided by a shared commitment to giving back, and enriched by fun and many cherished friendships. Sara was incredibly smart, with a remarkable business acumen, and was known for her humor, her generous heart, and her unfiltered, fearless way of moving through the world. She gave so very generously to the community, both with her time and her resources, and this commitment was a defining and enduring part of her life. Her involvement with countless organizations through the years reflected how deeply she valued helping others and showing up for those in need.
Sara was funny, deeply caring, and lived life on her own terms, never concerned with others’ judgment. She was affectionately known as “ChaCha” to her grandchildren. While her path was not without challenges, she was always there when it mattered most—for her children, her grandchildren, her family, her close friends, and her community.
Survivors include her son, David “Mac” Maguire LeMone and wife Kalle, and their children, Bo and Oaks; her daughter, Sara Emily LeMone and husband Joel, and their children, Meyer and Margot; her siblings, Raymer F. Maguire, III (Dean) and Corry E. Maguire (Jane); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. LeMone; her parents, Raymer F. Maguire, Jr. and Sara Corry Maguire; and her brother, Craig Corry Maguire.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Jerry Kennett and Dr. Stephen Barnes for their care, and most especially to her devoted, compassionate nurse, Molly Tennyson of Otter Health, and her incredible nursing staff.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, at 1:30 p.m. at Firestone Baars Chapel at Stephens College followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m. in the Kimball Ballroom in Lela Raney Wood Hall on the Stephens College campus.
