

Burial will be at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.
He served in the US Army during World War II, stationed in Germany. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a life member of the 78th Lighting Division Veteran Association, a member of the VFW of Taylorville, IL and a member of American Legion Post #905 of Kincaid, IL. He also served on the school board in Kincaid for many years. He and Betty spent their retirement years between Kincaid and Ft. Myers, FL. He enjoyed his family and friends, was an avid gardener and sports fan. Tom enjoyed sharing his stories to all he met.
Thomas was born on May 19, 1924 in Jeisyville, IL the son of Thomas and Costanza (Lomagno) Boerio who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Boerio and Charles Boerio. He was married on October 11, 1947 in Taylorville, IL to Betty Lou Patterson. He graduated from the 1942 Class of South Fork Community High School, Kincaid and David Rankin School of Trades, St. Louis, MO. He was a repairman at Peabody Mine #8, then worked for Borg-Warner in Decatur, IL retiring from there as a foreman in 1986.
Survivors include: his wife of 69 years, Betty Lou (Patterson) Boerio of the home, two daughters, Jeanette (Joe) Leahy of Nashville, TN and Teresa Ess of Baldwinsville, NY; two sons, Thomas E Boerio (Hilde) of Naples, FL and Brad Boerio (Melanie) of Columbia, MO; eight grandchildren, Brooke Wilson (Andy) of Nashville, TN, Kate Dailey (Mark) of Lebanon, TN, Matthew Boerio of Portland, OR, Christine McDonald of Miami, FL, Megan Bauer (Edward) of Baldwinsville, NY, Eric Ess (Nicki) of Phoenix, AZ, Brian Ess of Kansas City, MO, Carlie Boerio of Columbia, MO and Sophie Boerio of Columbia, MO; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and relatives in Italy.
