

Tom Burnett, 65, of Bunceton, MO passed away unexpectedly at the age of 65. Visitation will be 10-11am, Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO. Service will begin at 11am followed by burial in Pisgah Cemetery in Pisgah, MO.
Tom was born September 18, 1959, in Columbia, MO to James H. and Jewell Miller Burnett. He was a 1978 graduate of Hickman High School. After high school, he worked for True-Value Hardware in Columbia. On June 28, 1980, he married Viola Baker in Kansas City, MO. He later began his 37-year career with Lindsey Rentals in Columbia, serving as their lead mechanic. He was a very skilled mechanic and spent his extra time tinkering in his shop. He loved to be outdoors, walking his land, taking care of the garden, and mowing the lawn. His family was most important to him.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Viola “Vi” Burnett; sons, Russ Burnett of Pilot Grove and Evan Burnett of Bunceton; daughter, Becky (Josh) Stone of Hartsburg; a granddaughter, Abby Burnett of Pilot grove; siblings, Marsha (Johnny) Nelson of Columbia, Jana Bennett of Boonville, Cary (Tisha) Burnett of Columbia, and Andy Burnett and Karen of Westphalia; many nieces and nephews, a loving extended family, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
