Reverend Doctor Charles Lynn Nail Sr., of Silver Creek, Mississippi, passed from this life to God’s presence on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the age of 83. He was born in Grenada, Mississippi to William and Beatrice Nail where he graduated from John Rundle High School in 1955. Brother Nail devoted his entire life to his faith and the gospel ministry and loved nothing more than helping others. His ministry began in 1955 when he was ordained at Hebron Baptist Church in Grenada. His education was vast and earned a Master’s in English, a Doctor of Divinity, Doctor of Theology, and Doctor of Philosophy from Mississippi College, Southeastern Louisiana University, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and The Theological Seminary of America. Brother Nail served multiple churches throughout Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky and worked with Pioneers mission organization planting churches in South Dakota. He served as Chaplain of the South Dakota legislature, served on various committees with multiple Southern Baptist State Conventions, and also served as part of the Republican National Committee under President George W. Bush. Brother Nail had numerous writings published in various religious magazines and journals and published a semi-biography, “Potholes In The Road To Glory.” He was an avid amateur photographer and loved books, especially Westerns. He was currently serving as the pastor of Arm Baptist Church. Brother Nail will be remembered for his love for people, coffee, coconut cake, and Krispy Kreme donuts—but, “not necessarily in that order.” He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marvin Nail; and a wife, Sonja Nail. Brother Nail is survived by his wife, Mary Kilpatrick Nail; a daughter, Lynnette (Steve) Johnson; two sons, Charles L. “Chuck” (Heidi) Nail Jr., and Michael (Glenda) Nail; a step-daughter, Miranda Kilpatrick; a step-son, Brent (Vanessa) Kilpatrick; a sister, Nancy Burch; two brothers, Lamar Nail Jr. and Jack (Shirley) Nail; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. There will be a graveside service at 2:00pm in the Arm Baptist Church Cemetery on Saturday, November 28, 2020 with the assistance of Mike Nail, Steve Johnson, Doug Nail, Wes Nail, Zachary Johnson, and Payton Johnson serving as pallbearers.
