

On Saturday, February 14, 2026, Janice Louise Rhoden, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed from this life at the age of 90 and is resting in the arms of Jesus. She was born in Marion County, Mississippi to Rand and Bessie Hollis where she has remained a lifelong resident. Nanny, as she was known by all, was a simple person who took pleasure in the simple things in life. She was most content when she tending to her chickens, working in her yard, gardening, or making quilts for her family. Nanny was an excellent cook who enjoyed preparing special meals for family gatherings. She was a beautiful person, a strong Godly woman, and the rock of the family who wanted to take care of everyone. She loved her family deeply and leaves behind a legacy of faith. Nanny will be remembered for her commitment to pray daily for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, by a sister, Lou Alice Holmes; a brother, Fred Oscar Hollis; and her beloved husband, Albert Rhoden. Nanny is survived by a daughter, Judy Ward (Jerry); a son, David Rhoden (Carmen); two sisters, Faye Tinsley and Helen Kimbro; a brother, Rand Hollis, Jr. (Vivian); four grandchildren, Stephanie Tolar (T.J.), Jana Smith (Joseph), Cory Rhoden (Heather), and Christopher Singley; eight great-grandchildren, Trent Duplantis (Alyssa), Tre Tolar (DeDe), Kelsey Jones (Johnathan), Taylor Stringer (Tyler), Kaylee Duplantis (Landon), Keegan Singley, Carter Smith, and Caroline Smith; and nine great-great-grandchildren, Trace, Kade, Sylas, Ivyn, Brady, Hazel, Kreed, Tommy, and Lyla.
The funeral service for Nanny will be at the graveside in the Rhoden Family Cemetery at 152 Floyd Davis Drive, Columbia, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 1:00pm.
