Janice H. Tolar

Janice H. Tolar, age 84 of Columbia, MS passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Goss Baptist Church. Janice loved reading the Bible, attending bible study class, and enjoyed traveling to visit The Great Smoky Mountains with family.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Tolar; parents, Howard Harrell and Iola Robbins Harrell; sisters, Freda Dyess, and Sarah Tolar; nephews, Harrell Dyess, and Roger Tolar; and a great-nephew, Tyler Dyess.

She is survived by her daughter, Alicia Bass (Travis); her granddaughter, Constance Bass; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Janice will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, MS. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Reverend Mark McArthur, Reverend Tommy Broom, and Doctor Brian Malone will officiate and burial will follow at Society Hill Cemetery assisted by Mike Wallace, Mike Williamson, Gordon Fortenberry, Kenny Robertson, Allan Doane, and Cotton Reid serving as pallbearers.
