Linda Ann McDermit Whitehead

Linda Ann McDermit Whitehead, age 71 passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at University MS Medical Center in Jackson, MS. A longtime resident of Bassfield, MS, Linda was a homemaker and a member of Santee Baptist Church. She loved cats and was a collector of snow globes.

Mrs. Whitehead was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin McDermit and Lettie Jewel Walker McDermit; and sister, Bonnie Brister. Survivors include her husband, Bobby Lane Whitehead of Bassfield; sons, Ronald James Whitehead of Columbia, MS, Gary Clayton Whitehead (Catherine) of Sun, LA, and Timothy Mark Whitehead (Becky) of Bassfield; two sisters, Helen Patterson (Leroy) of Columbia, and Sylvia Martin (James) of Foxworth, MS; three brothers, John McDermit (Mary Kay) of St. Augustine, FL, Tony McDermit (Kathy) of Columbia, and Stanley McDermit (Martha) of Foxworth; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends for visitation Friday, November 5, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the funeral home where friends may visit from 10:00 AM until service time. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
