Lizzie Greer

Lizzie “NaNa” Greer, age 84 passed away Monday, September 19, 2022 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. A lifelong resident of Columbia, MS, she was employed 40 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Lizzie enjoyed working in the garden, traveling, and especially enjoyed her “front porch gossip”. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and loved the Lord, her church, and family. Lizzie was loved by many, family and friends alike, and will be missed greatly.

Mrs. Greer was preceded in death by her parents, Johnie Williams and Azzie Broom Williams; her twin sister, Elizabeth, at birth; and sisters, Meryl Williams, and Gracie Broom; and brothers, Hubert Williams, and Glen Williams. Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband, J.V. Greer of Columbia; her daughter, Brenda Montgomery (Brian) of Flower Mound, TX; son, Dale Greer (Angela) of Columbia; brothers, Shelton Williams (Sue) of Castro Valley, CA, and J.C. Williams (Janice) of Ellisville, MS; four grandchildren, Brice Montgomery, Dallas Webb, Jensen Hitt (Zach), and Braden Montgomery; and two great-grandchildren, Vaeda Hitt, and Ainsley Hitt.

Funeral services, officiated by Brother Tommy Broom, will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia where family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time. Burial will follow at Improve Cemetery assisted by Brice Montgomery, Braden Montgomery, Zach Hitt, Jonathon Williams, Jarrett Williams, and Tyler Terry as pallbearers, and honorary pallbearers, Reggie Crain, and Jeurgan Colbert.
