Robert “Bob” Layton, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2020 at the age of 71. Although Bob had been a resident of Columbia for the past 30 years, the majority of the time was spent traveling the world as a boat captain with Tidewater Marine. He was preceded in death by his parents, DeForest and Mary Layton; and a sister Patricia Edgecomb. He is survived by his wife, Helen Hargrove Layton; three daughters, Heidi Kogut, Diane Stafford, and Kristen Holmes; two stepsons, Joseph Powell and Farrell Powell; two brothers, Edward Layton and Thomas Layton; and a grandson, Ben Kogut. The funeral services for Bob will be private.
