Sue was a woman of faith and a member of Woodlawn Church. She loved God and her Woodlawn family. She had a zest for life and loved a good time – the life of the party. She especially loved her family and though she had no children of her own, Sue helped rear her sibling’s children, loving them as her very own; they considered her a second mother and loved being pampered by her.
Sue was a cosmetologist and began her career after attending beauty school in 1959 eventually owning her own shop. She loved interacting with people, enjoyed sharing her talent of styling hair, and developed deep relationships with many of her clients over the years as it was quickly learned Sue would never divulge anything told in confidence. Her working career continued for 60 years. On occasions, family would urge her to retire but realized it was pointless. Since Sue was a longtime widow, her work was an opportunity to stay active and soon became a hobby for her, working not out of necessity, but for the love of people. Because of Covid in 2020, Sue finally closed her shop at the age of 89.
