Verlon D. “Sonny Boy” Arinder, of the Improve Community in Mississippi, passed from this life into God’s presence on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at the age of 87. He was one of ten children born to Elzie and Sally Arinder and has been a lifelong resident of Marion County. Sonny Boy served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He served his community and his Lord through his membership with Improve Baptist. He was a simple, hardworking man who loved his family deeply. Sonny Boy had to be busy and was always involved in a project helping someone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Arinder; three sisters, Barbara Randall, Lottie Kendrick, and Jeanette Regan; and three brothers, James C. Arinder, Charles F. Arinder, and Aubrey Arinder. Sonny Boy is survived by a sister, Thelma Hudson; two brothers, Herbert Arinder and Lanny (Carolyn) Arinder; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Sonny Boy, officiated by Reverend Kevin Arinder, will be at Colonial Funeral Home on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 11:00am. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00am until service time. Burial will follow in Improve Baptist Church Cemetery assisted by Terry Randall, Mitchell Arinder, Randy Arinder, Kevin Arinder, Will Arinder, and Herbert Arinder, Jr. serving as pallbearers. James Arinder and Gary Hugh Regan will serve as honorary pallbearers.
