Willie C. Strickland, lifelong resident of Marion County, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025 at his residence in Foxworth, MS. He formerly owned and operated Sunshine Egg Farm and was a red deer farmer. He later became an inspector with the MS Department of Agriculture where he retired.
Willie was an avid outdoors sportsman and enjoyed hunting various wild game. He was a member of North Columbia Baptist Church and especially enjoyed being the world’s greatest “Pappy” to his family he loved so dearly.
Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his parents, John Gordon Strickland and Ruth Riley Strickland.
He is survived by his wife, Eddie Strickland of Foxworth; a daughter, Michelle Strickland Shepard of Foxworth; sisters, Mondell Sharpe (Shelby) of Dallas, TX, and Ann Ulmer, of Jackson, MS; a brother, Charles V. Strickland (Pat) of Columbia, MS; two grandsons, Keaton Carroll (Keshia), and Wes Shepard (Victoria); and five great-grandchildren, Bretton Carroll, Anna Lee Shepard, Laney Kate Carroll, Reed Shepard, and Sutton Carroll.
A graveside service, officiated by Reverend Brian Stewart, will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 3:30 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia.
