COLUMBIA – Allen Henry Bowman, 93, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015. A private graveside service will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 2:00 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with full military honors. Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel is assisting the family.
Born in McHenry, MD he was a son of the late John Albert and Ethel Bowser Bowman.
Allen served in his country for twenty years in the US Army; he was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, and retired as a Staff Sargent. After his active duty he worked civil service for eighteen years at Fort Jackson.
Surviving is his loving wife, Frances Jane Bowman; son, Thomas Bowman and wife Toni of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Deb Mayo of Columbia, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Allen was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was a man of faith with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed.
