Born on November 5, 1942, in Lock Haven, PA, she was the daughter of the late James Roy and Annie E. Bowers Hill. She graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1960. Betty loved to garden and enjoyed spending time with friends. She loved being around people, so working as a server at the Marriott, Sunset Restaurant and Cogburn’s suited her. She was a member of the Springdale Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She is survived by her daughters, Terri Slice Bickley (Roger) of Chapin, SC, Diane Slice Gillespie of Irmo, Joanne Slice Wactor of Columbia, and Carmen Heather Slice of West Columbia; grandchildren, Austen (Sara) Gillespie, Amanda Bickley, Robert Bickley, Erica Bickley, Savanna Wactor, Clementine Wolff, River Wolff and Venture Wolff. As the baby of nineteen children, she is survived by one brother, Telford Hill, and three sisters, Annie May Menichello, Kate Williams and Audrey Jeannette Yost and was predeceased by many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
The memorial service for Mrs. Barnes will be at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at The Kingdom Hall for Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3679 Leaphart Road, West Columbia. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
