Bruce E. Bell, of Blythewood, passed away on May 6, 2021. He will be missed dearly by his wife Maggie, stepchildren Megan, Amanda, and Ben, and grandson Cooper. He felt very blessed to have had eighteen years with his new family – a family he loved and was totally devoted to. He is also survived by siblings Cheri Charbonneau, Debbie Lykens, Steve Bell, and many old and dear friends.
Born on August 22, 1946, in Walla Walla, Washington, Bruce spoke proudly of his childhood and being part of the Strategic Arm Command family. He was a boy's boy who grew up to be a man's man. He served in Vietnam as part of the 1st Cavalry Division (Airborne).
Bruce was one of a last breed of universal men. He was well versed in history, food, travel, gardening, politics, religion, and a host of other subjects. Bruce was not your stereotypical nerdy accountant. His flowery language, stories of his long family history going back to Squire Boone, and his spunky escapades with his brother have entertained many for years. And let there be no doubt, the Scots invented the modern world according to Bruce.
To many he was a dog whisperer as there was never a dog who did not love him. His nickname Bruggy reflects his close bond with his special poodle Ziggy. He loved his doodles who also miss his comfort, protection, and food parcels slipped to them from the dining room table.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association as heart disease has taken many family members too soon.
Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel, is assisting the family. Memories may be shared at www.dunbarfunerals.com
