He is survived by his wife, Judy Stillinger Cato; daughter, Stacy Cato; grandson, Ben Adams; sisters, Cathy Mellette and Bobbie Hecton and brother, Grady Cato.
Mr. Cato was special to each family member. They have personally written a memory of him below.
Broadus Cato was always eager to please his clients that he took care of daily in his lawn business after retirement. Broadus was a kind man who didn’t like confrontation. I can’t ever remember him being angry - if he did he kept it to himself. He was easy to get along with and never met a stranger.
Broadus will be missed by many friends and family.
Rest in peace my brother.
- CATHY MELLETTE (sister)
Broadus was a kind man who didn't like confrontation. He was easy to get along with & never met a stranger. He retired from Thompson & Son Heating & Air, then started his lawn business. Broadus was always eager to please his clients in his business.
Broadus will be missed by many friends & family.
RIP brother.
- BOBBIE HECTON (sister)
As Broadus now awaits a resurrection into Jehovah’s paradise earth, I just know that 56 years was not long enough to know and love this very special man. He is greatly missed by his friends and family.
- JUDY CATO (widow)
My dad was a very giving, friendly person who would do for others without question. His knowledge encompassed seemingly infinite subjects, as all his life he worked in many different trades. From forestry to concrete laying, to HVAC, carpentry, and plumbing, it seemed like he knew how to do anything. His wisdom and character will be sorely missed, by his peers, his customers, and his loving family.
- STACY CATO (daughter)
My grandfather was a very friendly person, I remember everywhere he went he knew most everyone there and had a relationship with them, everywhere from the scrapyard to the bank, he knew everyone. The thing I liked most about my grandfather was his knowledge about so many different things. He knew at least something about everything, and give him a pair of pliers and WD-40 and he could fix anything. My grandfather loved God, preached the bible door to door for many years, and was a sound follower of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. The thing I know for sure is that I am going to miss him, and his other family members, customers, and other friends and acquaintances surely will too. Rest in peace Grandpa.
- BEN ADAMS (grandson)
The world will not be the same with Broadus in it. He was my brother-in-law for more than 56 years. I have so many wonderful memories of him and my sister, Judy, thru the years. He was an amazing person and will forever and always be missed.
My deepest condolences to Judy, Stacy, B.J. as well as his brother and two sisters.
- DEBRAH BENNETT (sister-in-law)
