Ellen McMikle

WEST COLUMBIA – A Funeral Mass for Ellen R. McMikle, 86, formerly of Boise, ID and Yuma, AZ, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 1, 2013 at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.

Mrs. McMikle, wife of the late Albert Cardosi and Vernon McMikle, was born June 24, 1926 in Payette, ID and passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. She was a daughter of the late John B. Van Etten and Rose C. Van Etten Osterhout. Mrs. McMikle was an avid artist. She loved to play her piano. She earned her pilot’s license at the age of 75 and flew her own Cessna airplane. She loved her native Idaho, its beauty of mountains, desert, lakes and streams. She recently moved to South Carolina to begin a new life closer to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. McMikle is survived by her children, Leo Cardosi (Susan), Donald Cardosi (Christine) and Joan Eger (John); 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Pearl Compton and brother, John Van Etten.
