Born on November 19, 1928 in Birmingham, Alabama, Ann was a daughter of the late Paul Russell and Carrie Mae Taylor Fulton. She grew up in Cochran, Ga., graduating from Bleckley County High School, attended Univ. of Ga. and later from Middle Georgia College. Ann was an elementary school teacher in Kingsport, Tenn. until 1951 when she met and married her husband, Andrew J. Peacock Jr. She left teaching to become a homemaker and raise their three daughters.
After moving to Columbia, Ann became a member of Kathwood Baptist Church. Ann was an avid gardener and cook. She was involved in a number of community and volunteer organizations including the local garden club and Junior League. She was also involved in various charities to help children in both Kingsport and Columbia. She enjoyed hosting her family and friends for holidays and gatherings. She especially loved spending time in the mountains at her beloved mountain house in Spruce Pine, N.C.
Ann is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Andrew J. Peacock Jr.; three daughters, Andrea (Mark) Bender, Carol (Michael) Braddock and Sara Peacock, all of Columbia; grandsons, Christopher (Miranda) Bender of Columbia and Scott Bender of Old Greenwich, Conn., and a granddaughter, Katherine (Matthew) Braddock Rabon of Columbia; and four great-grandchildren, Austen, Ian, Catherine and Anne Grace, who sorely miss their "Annekin."
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Paul Fulton Jr., two sisters, Marilyn Jackson and Carol Douglas, and a grandson, Michael Legg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Kathwood Baptist Church, or other charity of choice.
Please sign the guestbook at the church or online at www.dunbarfunerals.com.
