

A funeral mass for MSG Gerardo Maldonado, U.S. Army, Retired, 68, of Columbia will be held at 9am on Tuesday morning, June 29, 2010 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church with full military honors and entombment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home. The family has entrusted Greenlawn Funeral Home with the arrangements.
Mr. Maldonado passed away on Friday, June 25, 2010. He was born in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico to the late Gerardo Maldonado and Ramona Marrero. Mr. Maldonado
Retired from the United States Army as Master Sergeant after 20 years of dedicated service to our country in which he served two tours in Vietnam. Mr. Maldonado was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and Primera Iglesia Bautista Hispana.
Mr. Maldonado was predeceased by his wife, Norma Maldonado.
Surviving are his loving children, Annette Maldonado-Lawrence and her husband George and Gerardo “Jerry” Maldonado and his wife Tanya; five grandchildren, Luis Abreu, Jr. and his wife Margie, Miya Lawrence, Jarrod Maldonado, Jacob Maldonado and Anijah Lawrence; a great-grandchild, Kayla Abreu; 11 sisters, 1 brother, and a host of other loving relatives and friends whom will miss him dearly.
