

COLUMBIA – Hal V. Curtis, 90, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012. A funeral service with Masonic Rites will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel with a private entombment in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Hal joined the Army as a private prior to World War II and retired in 1962 as a Captain, having received a direct appointment during the Korean conflict. He then went to work for the Department of Mental Health, retiring in 1982. While employed at the Department of Mental Health, he attained the title of Fellow of the American College of Nursing Home Administrators.
Born September 1, 1921 in Bernie, Missouri, Hal was the fifth son of the late Joel and Mazina Valasco “Charley” Curtis. He is survived by his daughter, Chyrl and his beloved son-in-law, Mehdi Mirzaee; his nephew, Joel Curtis and wife, Sandy.
