Harold Nelson Brice

ELGIN Harold Nelson Brice, 78, Msgt. U.S. Air Force (Ret.), passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 2:30 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel. Born in Los Angeles, CA, he was a son of the late James A. Brice and Marie Nelson Brice. Harold served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. After retiring from the USAF, he worked for the Department of Corrections as an instructor. He was an avid fisherman, loved to build things and enjoyed a good joke. He served as a foster parent for over twenty years. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jessie Johnson Brice; sons, Garland T. Johnson of Charlotte, N.C. and Krisone Brice (Evelyn) of Columbia; daughter, Samantha N. Brice of Elgin; sister; Dorothy B. Johnson of Los Angeles; grandchildren, Aliyah E. Johnson and Logan Collison; godson, Christian English of Columbia. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers and one sister. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
