

Harriet was born December 15, 1930 to the late Robert Mizzell and Ingrid Latikka Mizzell. She was the second daughter and often talked of life growing up on a farm in Holly Hill, South Carolina.
After high school, she moved to Columbia, SC to attend nursing school at Baptist Hospital. There she met her husband, Boyd Berry and they had four children, Bob (Vicky), Kathy, Karol, Karen (Mike).
Harriet is survived by her children; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, as well as her sisters, Ruth Trusedale, Roberta Hinson (JC) and Peggy Williamson (LB).
She was active in her church, New Heights in Columbia. She never met a stranger and had many students and internationals, some with children, who still call her grandma, living in her home over the years. She frequently cooked for church functions and actively mailed used church literature to underserved communities.
After a full career in nursing, working for surgeons in Columbia then the SC Department of Mental Health, she retired and met her second husband, Johnny Mizzell. The two got active in Christ for India, traveling there many times and starting a church there. Johnny passed after only a short marriage.
Harriet was adored and loved by many and will be missed by family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at New Heights Church, 5501 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.
