

Iran Santis Cummings, 74, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, surrounded by family. Born December 19, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the beloved son of Harold and Kay Frances Cummings.
Iran was a lifelong sports enthusiast and a proud graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. He continued his studies by attending Fisk University, later graduating from The University of Akron (BS), Oakland University (AS in Robotics), and University of Detroit Mercy (MBA in Labor Relations), shaping a love of learning that lasted throughout his life. A passionate fan of golf and bowling, and a devoted gardener and cook, Iran found the most joy in creating cherished memories while entertaining family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Annette; children Tahlia, Michael (Renetta) Jones, and Angela (Timonthy) Hardge, 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 siblings, and a host of family and friends. Iran was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held Friday, November 14, from 4:00-6:00 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, 4219 Hard Scrabble Road, Columbia. Funeral services will take place Saturday, November 15, at 10:00 am at Sandhills Community Church.
In addition to floral tributes, the family welcomes memorial donations to the Midlands Dawg Pound, Fisher House Foundation in association with the Veterans Health Administration, or Transitions Homeless Center in Columbia, SC, in honor of Iran Cummings.
A memorial service and tribute will be scheduled in Cleveland, Ohio at a later time.
