
CHAPIN – Mr. Julius Newell Eleazer, 97, of 2231 Chapin Road, Chapin, SC, died Monday, January 23, 2012. Born May 11, 1914, he was the son of the late Julius and Mattie Alewine Eleazer.
Funeral services for Mr. Eleazer will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, Chapin, SC with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home,Chapin Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Eleazer joined the Army after working in two CCC camps in SC. He served his country proudly as a medic during World War II. He is also a life- long member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church where he was the oldest member of the congregation.
Surviving are his five children, Diane (Heyward) Haltiwanger of Chapin, SC, Peggy (Melvin) Cannon of Little Mountain, SC, Melvin (Nele) Eleazer of Wisconsin, Mahala Eleazer of Columbia, SC, and Richard Eleazer of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Melissa Hevia, Stacey Dailey and Lacey Wessinger; great-grandchildren, Adam and Bryce Hevia, Andrew Dailey, Garrett and Davis Wessinger.
