
Lugoff: Mary Baldwin Gibson, 75, of Lugoff, died Sunday, April 22, 2012. Born in Kershaw County, SC, on January 21, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Preston Melton Baldwin and Virginia Higgins Baldwin.
Mrs. Gibson, the pastor’s wife, was the song leader for the church. She taught Sunday School for many years at Fox Hill Baptist Church, where she was an active member. She was the lead singer in a gospel group. Mary is fondly remembered for her talent with flower arrangements. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Gibson was well loved by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, The Rev. Albert Gibson, Jr.; sons, Aaron D. “Buddy” Neeley and wife, Janna, Melvin Gibson, all of Lugoff; sisters, Ruby Murph of Oak Ridge, TN, Myrtle Marsh, Lucille Phillips, and Margaret Jones all of Lugoff; grandchildren, Henry Neeley II, Joshua Neeley, Trebla Neeley, and Victoria Neeley; beloved family pets, Yoko, Billybob, Snowman, and Fluffy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Henry F. Neeley, James Robert Neeley; brothers, Bailey Martin, Edward Martin, and Harry Baldwin.
A funeral for Mrs. Gibson will be held 3 o’clock, Tuesday, April 24th, at Fox Hill Baptist Church with The Rev. Ricky Jacobs and The Rev. Peter Shores officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening at the church from 6 until 8 o’clock.
