Melvin Elwood "Mike" McCravy was born April 11, 1945 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Dewlin E. McCravy Sr. and Roberta Bonds McCravy. Mike battled several types of cancer over the last twenty years and valiantly conquered them all, until he succumbed to Leukemia at the age of 80 at Lexington Medical Center on May 29, 2025.
Mike was proud of his years as a firefighter at Columbia Fire Department. He always reminisced about all his accomplishments and adventures during those years of dedicated service to the community. In his spare time he enjoyed target shooting, working out, going to dirt track races, and most of all spending time with his beloved son and grandsons, who were the pride and joy of his life.
Mike is survived by his loving and devoted son, Scott McCravy (Stephanie), beloved grandsons Sam and Garrett McCravy; sister-in-law Shirley Outlaw; nieces Debbie Sowell, Dianne Hambrick, Teresa Martin, and Sharon Tharpe.
A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Columbia, South Carolina, at 10:00 AM on Friday June 6, 2025.
