My beloved Michael “Mike” David Hockett, age 69, of Columbia, SC went home to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. He was born in Richmond, VA on January 4, 1954 and was the son of Joyce Bagby and Richard Tate Hockett.
Mike had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed wood carving, fishing, cooking, and baking. He also enjoyed Civil War history and memorabilia. Mike worked with his family business in Virginia, then in retail for many years. After retirement, he moved from Virginia to Hawaii. He was a taxidermist and also worked in mechanical construction.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Debra Williams Hockett; his brother, Johnny Hockett (Diane); sister, Susan Sherron (Ben); brother, Ricky Hockett; cousin, Brenda Renfrow; Debra’s aunt, Aletha Robinson, and cousins, Derek Robinson and Dawn Pascal. He is also survived by many other relatives.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held privately at a later date.
