

She was born in Ibadan, Nigeria on February 6, 1962 and grew up in Benin City, Nigeria. She was the daughter of Late Honorable Justice Dominic Ekomwenrenren Aghahowa and Late Mrs. Olga Rosetta Aghahowa (nee Fearon).
Moira attended St. Maria Goretti Secondary School in Benin City, Nigeria. On holidays, she often travelled to her mother’s home country, Jamaica. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from the Faculty of Science at the University of Benin in 1986. She went on to obtain an LLB in Law from the School of Law at Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Nigeria in 1989. Moira later earned a Master of Laws (LLM) in American Legal Studies from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio in 1995.
She married her late husband, Dr. Nowamagbe Austin Omoigui and settled in Columbia, South Carolina where she lovingly raised her 6 children and filled their lives with warmth, laughter, and grace.
She served as a Program Assistant for the South Carolina Business One Stop (SCBOS) at the South Carolina Department of Revenue from 2012 until her retirement in 2024.
She volunteered with the United Way of the Midlands, supporting the LRADAC (Lexington/Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission) Behavioral Center, and participated in breast cancer awareness walks. She was a regular patron of the Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon with the UNCF. She was also a member of the Girl’s Force Movement for young girls in Nigeria focused on quality education and gender equality.
Moira had a refined taste that showed in everything from her elegant wardrobe to the way she decorated her home on special occasions. She was a charismatic storyteller, captivating anyone lucky enough to listen. She enjoyed gardening, going to the movies, playing boardgames, and listening to music. She was a woman of faith and an active member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
She is survived by her 6 children, Ikponmwosa Olga Iyeye Omoigui, Ighiwiyisi Grace Audrey Omoigui, Iyegbekosa Siobhan Omoigui, Izevbokun Simone Omoigui, Iyare Osamamianmianmwen Igodomigodo Omoigui, and Iriagbonse Alexandra Omoigui.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. September 27th, 2025 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, followed by a burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
