Neal Eugene Bedwell, aged 66 years, of Columbia, SC, and formerly of Newark, DE, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. Neal was born in Wilmington, DE to the late John (“Gene”) and Geraldine Bedwell. Neal was raised in Newark, DE where he attended grade school at Holy Angels School, and was a member of Saint Mark’s High School’s inaugural class. Neal earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Delaware.
Neal medically retired from State Farm Insurance. While still in good health, Neal enjoyed golfing, exercising, visiting the Jersey Shore, and riding around in his many Cadillacs. Neal was also an avid Philadelphia sports fan, and enjoyed trying out new restaurants. Neal was very generous throughout the better part of his life; especially towards children’s and veteran’s charities. Neal marveled over the achievements of his beloved daughters, Christina and Alexis.
Neal is survived by Kerry, Christina and Alexis Bedwell, three younger sisters, and several nieces and nephews. At the request of Neal, no funeral arrangements will be held at this time, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
