Roseann Marie Jackson, age 72, of Columbia, S.C., died Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at home after months of being ill, in and out of the hospital. Born February 5, 1953, in Lake City, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late Mary Kral Jackson and the late James Lenard Jackson.
Rose was a vivacious, loyal and caring person who would give the shirt off her back. She had a faith in Jesus Christ, and she trusted in that relationship to the very end. She prayed for others to have this same faith.
She was a graduate of Midlands Technical College in Columbia, S.C. in 2008 working as a Medical Records Coder for over 10 years at the then Providence Hospital later to be acquired by the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Prior to retooling herself as a Medical Records Coder, she managed Progressive Tool for over 25 years. Progressive Tool was in a male dominated industry, Machine Tool and Die, of which she would often say, she had to be better than her male counterparts to be taken seriously. Needless to say, she was respected in this industry, and this is what led her to being one of the few, if not the only, female manager in this industry at that time. She was also one of the only female Certified Welders in the State of South Carolina. She was truly a trail blazer for women in nontraditional occupations. She was loved and will be missed!
Surviving are her siblings, Connie Barnett (Ken, deceased) of Lexington, Jimmie Jackson (Amy Karg, fiancé) of Orlando, Fla., John Jackson of Gaston, Cindy Jackson Byrd (Daniel, deceased) of Laurel Hill, N.C., Virginia Chavez of Gaston, and Velma Jackson Aaron (James G) of Winston Salem, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her mother and father; brother, Bill Jackson; brother, Frank Jackson; and sister, Georgianna Kaiser.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, September 5, 2025 at Elmwood Cemetery Mausoleum in downtown Columbia, S.C. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105) as this organization was near and dear to Rose’s heart. She loved the innocence of children and hated to see them suffer in any way.
