

Sheryl Campbell Elliott went to be with the Lord Saturday evening, June 7, 2014 at her home in Columbia, SC with her family at her side after a valiant battle against cancer. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Christian Life Church at 2700 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC. Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements. Sheryl was a devoted wife and mother who loved the Lord, her family and friends. Sheryl loved and participated in the dance ministry at Christian Life Church. Sheryl Elliott was born July 10, 1962 in Anchorage, Alaska, the fifth of eleven children of Anna Ruth and Lonnie Thomas Campbell. As the daughter of a United States Air Force officer and pilot, Sheryl grew up living in Virginia and Mississippi before spending most of her life in Anchorage, Alaska where her father retired. Sheryl grew up with her three brothers and seven sisters enjoying leisure time at her father’s cabin in the Meadow Lakes area of Wasilla, AK. After graduating from Bartlett High School in Anchorage, Sheryl attended and graduated from Abbott Loop Christian Center’s two-year Bible school program. Sheryl worked at several prominent banks in Anchorage living with several of her close girlfriends from Abbott Loop Christian Center. She met her future husband, Steve Elliott at Abbott Loop Church in the mid-1980s. She didn’t accept a date with Steve until early 1990, just before she moved to Issaquah, WA to live with one of her sisters. Steve travelled on business to Portland, OR and visited Sheryl in Issaquah, persuading her to return to Anchorage, driving the Alcan Highway in October 1990. Sheryl accepted Steve’s marriage proposal on Valentine’s Day in 1991, and with her parent’s blessing, Steve and Sheryl got married in Anchorage on May 11, 1991. Sheryl and Steve started their family with the birth of their sons Ryan in 1994, Andrew in 1995, daughter Jessica in 1997, sons Aaron in 1999 and Matthew in 2001. In 1999 Sheryl and Steve moved into the home they built in the Meadow Lakes area of Wasilla, AK. In January 2006 Sheryl and Steve moved their family to Columbia, SC. Sheryl and Steve added to their family with the adoption of daughter Alona and son Artome from Odessa, Ukraine in December 2011. Sheryl Elliott is survived by her husband Steven Elliott, sons Ryan, Andrew, Artome, Aaron, and Matthew Elliott and daughters Alona and Jessica Elliott, parents Anna Ruth and Lonnie T Campbell, sisters Lonniet Kurka (Dan), Karen Samarasinghe, Merry Wilson (Erin), Wanda Sternhagen, Jeanie Campbell, Kathleen Barnes, and Caroline McMullins (Chris) and brothers Ray Campbell, Mark Campbell (Michelle) and Archibald Campbell (Betsy) and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the family to Christian Life Church at 2700 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC.
