At 18, she met the love of her life, Thomas "Tuck" Tucker. They were married six months later in 1963. They moved back to Tuck's home state of Texas in 1968. They settled in Friendswood, raising their two daughters, Sloan and Shannon, until their retirement in 2003. She worked for Friendswood ISD for well over 20 years. They spent the next seven years at their beloved cabin in Seadrift, TX, fishing, gardening, canning, visiting on the front porch with family and friends, and hosting their annual 4th of July party, until Tuck's death in 2010. She then lived with Sloan for several years, her sister, Dewrene, who she dearly loved, for several years and then back with Sloan for the last two years.
Sunny loved her family and friends more than anything. A big highlight of her life was when her long lost sister, Barbara, found her after 80 years and she discovered they were exactly alike, although 10 years apart. She spent every day of her life on the phone with her sister, Dewrene, talking at least 4 times a day! She coached her girls' softball teams for many years and never missed one of their volleyball or basketball games. She could be heard over all the crowds, cheering the loudest. She loved having fun, laughing, being the life of the party and cooking for all. She loved spending time with her five granddaughters and was beside herself happy with her four great-grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters.
She loved life and never knew a sad day. She never let you leave without saying, "Bye, I love you!" at least a million times. There will be no funeral or memorial. She will be interred next to Tuck, in Seadrift, TX. A big thank you to all our family and friends, who over all the years, loved her, made her happy and gave her laughter.
Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel, is assisting the family.
