Vimlaben Jayantilal Patel

4 February, 193328 September, 2020

Vimlaben (Benaben) Jayantilal Patel was born in Nairobi, Kenya. She was married at the age of 19 years and went on to raise three daughters. She always lived near her family and received much help from them.

Benaben moved to England in 1974 with her husband and children having never been to England before. After a challenging start the family settled down to a new life. She courageously accepted a complete change of lifestyle and had a job for the very first time in her life to help support her family. She had a warm, compassionate and generous personality, and in time she made friends in the community, at work and in the neighborhood.

She was very religious and she was very involved in the Sai Baba followers’ community. She was widowed in 2012, and by then the daughters had moved away to the United States.

After 42 happy years in the same house in Harrow, England, Benaben made another major move, this time to Columbia, S.C. She moved in with her eldest daughter, Gita, and periodically visited her other two daughters, Mira in CA., and Sonal in N.J. She enjoyed the opportunity to spend more time with her daughters and her eight grandchildren. She was in Columbia, S.C.during the last few months of her life. Her health was failing and she passed very peacefully surrounded by family.

Our family will miss her very much, but we are grateful for all the wonderful memories we have of time spent together.

Hi to an important part of my family and distance makes it difficult to keep
In touch as often as I wish. I am really sorry to have heard the sad news of Fufi’s passing. My sympathies and sincere condolences to you Three sisters and the rest of the family. Wish I was there in person to say my farewell but alas it was not to be. It has brought back sad memories and I realise that my special Grandfather’s close family has come to an end with my Fufi’s passing and I trust she will rest in pease. My love and hugs to you all.

We were so very sorry to hear of the sad passing of Mrs P. She and Mr P made us so very welcome when we moved in next door all those years ago and they were wonderful neighbours. Mrs P always gave the boys Christmas presents and regularly slipped them sweets and not forgetting she also cooked fab food for Martin!
We send our love and condolences to all the family as this very sad time..xxx
