Born in Wyandotte, Michigan on June 7, 1946, he grew up along the Detroit River helping in his family’s marina. Bill graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1964 and went on to the University of Michigan. While on break from school, he met Kay Lee Jenkins, whom he married in 1967. After graduating from the University in 1968, Bill and Kay returned to the downriver area and had two children, Whitney Cecile and Jacob William. He owned and worked in D. Mellin Moran Auto Parts and Machine Shop in Wyandotte until 1979, when he moved his family to South Carolina. Bill was very intelligent and easily developed a career in information technology, working with Siebels Bruce, Policy Management Solutions Corp., Computer Science Corp., and Lockheed Martin, retiring in 2008. He married Mary Ellen Beverly in 1985, and they had two children together, Rebecca Beverly and Rachel Eleanor.
Bill was kind and generous to all who knew him. He would open his home to family many times over the years, and he would go out of his way to help his friends and family whenever the need arose. Always a problem solver, he was extremely knowledgeable about everything from cars, tools, home maintenance and repairs, his horses, chickens, and all things technology. Bill never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, anytime. We will forever miss his laugh, his wit, and his wisdom.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary Ellen Beverly; his four children, Whitney Stocker (Daniel), Jacob Mellin (Carrie), Rebecca Hawkins, and Rachel Sanchez (Usiel) and nine grandchildren.
