Anne W. Wade

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in Riverdale Cemetery with Reverend Rich Martindale officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel. The family will receive family and friends at the home of Mr. And Mrs. Robert K. David, Tuesday, August 17, 2010 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

Mrs. Wade was born February 26, 1922 in Savannah, GA to the late Marie Strong Wright and Walter Jackson Wright. She attended Wynnton Elementary, Columbus High School, and graduated from Shorter College. She was a homemaker, a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Wade was a longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she was active with the Altar Guild and the Lucy Shepherd Guild. She was also active in the Magnolia Garden Club, Junior League, D.A.R.-George Walton Chapter, and the Colonial Dames XVII Century.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wade was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Albert Wade.

She is survived by her four children: Joseph Albert Wade, Jr. (Nan), Walter Wright Wade (Carol), Anne Wade Eatman (Jack), Elizabeth Wade David (Bob); eight grandchildren: Marie Wade Arnold (Joe), Richard Berryman Mobley (Amy), Walter Wright Wade, Jr. (Graham), Thomas Wade Mobley, Shanna Eva Wade, Elizabeth Eason David, Robert Kendrick David, III (Julianne), and Joseph Britt David (Emily); eight great grandchildren; other survivors include her brother, Walter Jackson Wright, Jr.; a sister in law, Ann Wade Swift, and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. A special thanks to her devoted caretakers, Irma Hightower, and Bonnie Eggins.
