A visitation for the family and friends of Barbara will be held Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary - Columbus, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907; a graveside celebration of Barbara's life will follow at 2:00 PM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
Barbara was deeply rooted in her faith, helping navigate a life filled with its share of challenges. Despite facing adversity at many turns, she remained steadfast in her beliefs, finding her own sense of peace amidst the turmoil. Her resilience was evident to all who knew her. Barbara’s journey exemplifies the transformative power of faith, demonstrating that even in life's most difficult moments, one can find solace and strength within their spiritual convictions. Barbara cherished her role as a mother and grandmother and wished for her legacy to be rooted in family. Her love for her children and grandchildren was unwavering. Barbara approached life with steadfastness, leaving behind a legacy of perseverance and determination. She was a member of Wynnton United Methodist, a dedicated volunteer as a hospital candy striper and with PAWS Humane Society. Barbara worked for over 28 years as a Human Resource Assistant at Ft. Moore (Benning) before retiring.
Survivors include: sons, Norman F. “Phil” (Wendy) Bone II, Dr. John P. (Bejay M. Osby) Blackwell III; daughter, Jennifer Sheffield; grandchildren, Taylor Bone, Scott Eckles, Jr. Brianna Shirley, Blake Sheffield, great grandchild, Olivia Shirley; and brothers, Ned Middleton, and Jim Middleton.
