

Bernice D. Otap, age 89, of Columbus, GA was called home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Bernice was the wife of the late Raymond A. Otap, who passed away in August of 1992. They shared 35 years of marriage.
Bernice worked for the Muscogee County School District for 28 years in the library at Richards Middle School. During her life, her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and family.
Bernice was born on October 8, 1930 in Coatesville, PA, the daughter of the late Louis Duda, Sr. and Jennie Duda. She leaves to cherish her memories: her two children, daughter Valerie Tate, widow of Jeffrey Tate, of Midland, GA and her son, Charles Otap and his wife Deborah Otap, grandchildren Christopher Otap and Sandra Otap of Charleston, SC., her brother Joseph Duda, his wife Lynne Duda, and her sister Betty D. Buchanan, both of Sadsburyville, PA., step grandsons Jason Tate and his wife Ashlee Tate, and Eric Tate, and step great grandson Matthew Tate.
She was preceded in death by six siblings: Vera Polakovic, Josephine Hunt, Lucy Gazzerro, Stella Chiz, Lilly Misera, and Louis Duda, Jr.
Funeral Service for Bernice will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 11:30 am. Due to COVID virus restrictions, the service is limited to immediate family.
