Bette Jean Barr, 98, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 1:00 PM at St. Mark Church, 6795 Whitesville Road, Columbus, Georgia 31904.
Bette was born on September 23, 1917, in Columbus, Georgia to Jesse and Thomas Olin Thomason. She has been a Columbus native her whole life and a member of St. Paul Church where she attended on Sundays. She was an avid Bridge player and loved cooking and decorating her house.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Barr; her granddaughter, Catherine DeSilvey; her parents, Jesse and Olin Thomason; her sisters, Margaret Berry and Barbara Thomason and her brother, William Thomason. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Johnson; her grandson, William Boone; her great grandchildren, Michael DeSilvey and Cassidy DeSilvey; her great great grandchild, Camryn DeSilvey; and her sister, Diane Goodman.
