Bill D. Sterling, age 81, of Cataula, Georgia passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020. A Memorial for Bill will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2020. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM and the Memorial Services at 2:00 PM with Pastor Mickey Adams officiating. All services will be at Striffler-Hamby located at 4071 Macon Road.
Bill was born September 29th, 1938 in Waverly Hall, Georgia to his late parents, Jesse Sterling and Mary Dorman Sterling. After high school Bill joined the Army and proudly served his country for three years. He met the love of his life, Jane Culpepper, at Baker High School in Columbus, Georgia. They shared a wonderful life for sixty years. Bill finished his career at Case New Holland and moved to Cataula upon retirement to be close to family. He loved his family and was involved in all their activities, sometimes coaching his children in sports. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years at Piney Grove Baptist Church. Bill loved golfing, fishing, gardening, and watching birds in his backyard. He enjoyed sports activities with his children when they were young and playing cards with his grandsons. His legacy will live on through his family and many memories.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Jane Sterling; sons, Randy, Ricky and Ronnie; Randy’s wife, Cheryl, and their two sons, Chris and Zach; sisters and spouses, Mary and Mack Tomlin and Jane and J.P. Crisan; sisters-in-law, Peggy Culpepper and Gloria Mastrean and spouse, Dan; and an abundance of nieces and nephews among other family members and many friends.
